I wonder if we struggle to regulate our food choices because of our Mammalian brain, never developed a, 'is it better for you?' choice module, more it developed is it food? yes, will it kill me?..no... good eat it you're starving.

Agree with the survival instinct point - and also the fact that food/diet is very habitual, and habits are very hard to change (and lots of changes - like protein, or low carb, or veganism - end up being short term things rather than long term shifts)
