I was curious so I looked at the health survey data for 2022. The figures for non-drinking among 16-24 year old men were 26% and 23% for women. So it looks like, post-pandemic, we've returned to the norm and that this was a lockdown effect rather than a cohort one. Thoughts?
Interesting - I think you're right, the lockdown had an impact on social drinking that accounted for a big part of the spike. I imagine the other trends (in health, culture etc) still apply though. One to look at more closely.

Fascinating! As you say, it would be interesting to see whether the non-drinkers are still going out, or just staying at home.
